I have the wonderful privilege of mentoring five men each Monday morning at 8:30am. We seek to sharpen one another as described in Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”(NIV). The primary focus of our weekly connect time is to nurture the life of Christ in us.
God wants you to grow spiritually. What does that look like? Spiritual growth looks like a believer who is becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ. It is a process by which you participate with God in His activity. God does not expect you to fly solo. Being a Christ follower is a commitment to walk in fellowship with God and other believers.
So how do you grow? You grow by feeding on God’s Word. You grow by reading and applying the Bible. My mentoring group decided to read the book of Ephesians everyday as part of our spiritual devotion and development.
My pastor, Dr. David Fleming, is preaching expositionally (verse by verse) through the book of Ephesians each Sunday morning. As I read through all six chapters of Ephesians each day my walk with God is enriched. Then, I have the wonderful privilege of hearing a message from the Lord through my pastor each Sunday morning out of Ephesians.
Meditate on this powerful verse from Ephesians:
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” Eph 1:17 (NIV)
Are you willing to commit to read Ephesians each day as you nurture the life of Christ in you? Let’s walk together through God’s Word so that we may know Him better!
Pursuing God,
