Tabernacle Prayer: Accept God’s Invitation

“And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. It shall be made with cherubim skillfully worked into it. And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on four bases of silver. And you shall hang the veil from the clasps, and bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy.” Exodus 26:31-33 (ESV) In the Old Testament Tabernacle, only the High Priest could enter the Most Holy Place. He would enter through the curtain that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. The High Priest was granted access. Station 6:      The Curtain Praise God for the Access He Has Granted In Christ, you have been given access into the presence of God. You have immediate and continual access to God in prayer as you draw near to Him (Heb. 10:19-22). When Jesus died on the cross to satisfy the justice of God for our sin, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom (Matt. 27:51). The curtain was not torn from bottom to top, but from top to bottom to symbolize God’s initiative to bring us into a right relationship with Himself. God took the initiative to reconcile us to Himself. Because of the completed work of Jesus on the cross, you approach the throne of grace with confidence. Jesus has opened a new and living way through the curtain so that you can draw near to God. Draw near with a true heart full of faith. Praise God for the access He has granted. You are privileged to be a child of the King. There is no greater honor. There is no greater privilege than that of having direct access to the Creator of the universe. God has granted you access. How have you responded to God’s invitation? You have been granted access to enjoy unbroken fellowship with God. You can enjoy unhurried time alone with the Lord. Maximize the opportunity God has given you. Invest the rest of your life bringing others into the privilege you now enjoy. Join God in His redemptive activity by shining His light and sharing His love so that others can come into a saving relationship with Jesus. Ask God to elevate your soul-consciousness and to give you the boldness and courage to share your faith with those who don’t know Christ. How will you respond to God’s provision? The wonderful news is that God has given every believer access into His Presence. How did He provide the way? “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split” (Matt. 27:50-51). Notice how the sacrificial death of Christ granted access for every child of God. God initiated the process to bring us into position to be reconciled. “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb 10:19-22). God has granted us access to His presence. How will you respond to God’s provision? What will be different about your daily pursuit? Direct Access

“Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’” Romans 8:14-15 (NIV) In the Old Testament, the children of Israel were led by the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. God made His direction clear to them by making His Presence known to them. As children of God, we are led by the Spirit and we are given access to His Presence. Our relationship with Him is both intimate and permanent. You become a child of God by being born again. The divine transaction that takes place at the moment of your conversion replaces the spirit of fear with the Spirit of sonship. “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13 (NIV) “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2 Tim. 1:7 (NIV) One of the hallmarks of the Holy Spirit’s habitation in you is the reality of your direct access. Now that you are a child of God, you are led by the Spirit of God and you have direct access to the Presence of God. Being led by the Spirit of God demonstrates your full surrender to the Spirit’s leadership in your life. Now that you have the Spirit of sonship, enjoy unbroken fellowship with God. Direct Access

Access

We would be stunned to receive a personal invitation for a private meeting with the president of the United States. Our mind would immediately be bombarded with thoughts of excitement, anticipation, and wonder. We would call, email, and text our friends and family members. Word would get out quickly. Then our focus would be on deciding what to wear for the special occasion and what to say to the Commander in Chief. Now compare that to the reality of the personal invitation from the Creator of the entire universe to daily and perpetually come into His presence. Ponder the treasure of having unrestricted access to our Heavenly Father. “For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” Eph 2:18 (NIV) Through Jesus we have been granted access! What a wonderful reality of our relationship with Christ. You don’t have to wait in line. You don’t have to rigorously step through ritualistic hoops to enter God’s presence. You have the unlimited back stage pass. How can this be? “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.” Matt 27:50-51 (NIV) Jesus removed the barrier. Jesus eliminated the wall of hostility. Jesus provided the way. Jesus granted the access. Jesus made us acceptable. Jesus built the bridge.
