Turn your workplace into a mission field.
From age 18 to 65, if you work 40 hours per week, you will work at total of about 94,000 hours. Wow! Think about that for a moment. You will spend a major portion of your life at work.
What will you do with the 94,000 hours? That’s a lot of time to make an eternal difference. It all depends on how you view your workplace. If it is just a place to earn money, then your impact will be greatly limited. If it is just a place to climb the professional ladder, then your impact will fall short. However, if you began to embrace the reality that your workplace is your mission field, then eternity becomes a blessing for those in your sphere of influence who turn their lives over to Christ alone for salvation.
- “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16 (NIV)
- “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.” 1 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)
How many people will be in Heaven because of your faithfulness in serving the people in your workplace as your mission field? You are a missionary to your workplace!
